Introduction of the Competition
The Youth "Eco-Innovation · Green Action" Competition (the Competition) is jointly presented by the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee (ECAC) and the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (SSTEC). It was formerly known as the National Varsity "Eco-Innovation · Green Action" Competition, and has been organised annually by SSTEC since 2011. The Competition encourages youth to explore innovations and entrepreneurial initiatives related to green and smart development, and uncover practical green and smart solutions for the development of eco-cities. At the same time, the Competition also calls on youths to actively lead a sustainable eco-friendly lifestyle. Over the past ten editions, the Competition has received 1,012 innovative and implementable entries from 285 participants (individuals, companies and tertiary institutes) from 91 cities in China and other countries. The 2022 Edition of the Competition will be launched in the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City in June 2022.
The Competition shows support for China’s national campaign to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, while also being well-aligned with the Eco-City’s positioning as China's "National Green Development Demonstration Zone". It also heeds China’s call to decarbonise to achieve its “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality” goals, which complementing the focus areas in the green development of the Eco-City. The Competition also embodies ECAC and SSTEC’s continued efforts to be socially responsible, and showcases the Eco-City’s achievements as a pioneer in eco-city development and as a sustainability advocate and practitioner.
