The Youth "Eco-Innovation · Green Action" Competition (Competition) is jointly organised by the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee (ECAC) and the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (SSTEC). It was previously known as the National Varsity "Eco-Innovation · Green Action" Competition and it was initiated by SSTEC in 2011. Eight consecutive editions of the Competition have been held since its inception in 2011. To date, the Competition has received a total of 750 projects from 202 institutions and professional organisations in 70 cities across China. The Competition aims to encourage youth to actively innovate and explore careers in the field of environmental protection, and to uncover feasible green and smart solutions for the development of eco-cities. At the same time, the Competition also calls on youths to actively lead a sustainable eco-lifestyle. The Competition adhered to the State’s advocacy of "Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation" and Eco-City’s urban positioning of a "National Green Development Demonstration Zone", reflecting ECAC’s and SSTEC’s continuous efforts in active implementation of social responsibility and highlighting the role of Eco-City as a pioneer in eco-city development and an advocate and practitioner of environmental protection. The project entries for this year's Competition will focus on two themes - ecological development and smart development.
